Shirts for the Kids?

Does anyone have a daycare shirt that the kids wear out for field trips? My group is a bunch of preschoolers and usually I'm fine with them in regular clothes. We are having a big bowling outing soon though, and I'd like to have them in the same shirts for easy identification. I use vistaprint for my own daycare tshirts but they don't make kid sizes. Any affordable/durable suggestions?

If not, I'm thinking I may buy plain colored t shirts from Michaels. Thanks!

I'd like to do something like that but I think I would have to do iron-ons at home. It's so expensive to have them done at those silk screening places. I bought plain white T-shirts in kid sizes from target for $7.99 and they come in like 5 to a pack or something and I'll be using photoshop to create my own design and then I'll just print it on the iron-on printer paper. They don't last as long but It's cheap enough for me to do that instead of paying the $35 silk screen fee (per color) and then $8 per shirt on top of that for only 6 shirts. I did the math and to do my logo on my shirts I'd pay $280 for the silkscreening plus $8 per shirt. I can make 5 shirts for $16 with however many colors I want .

I'm bummed that Vista print doesn't have kid sizes or I would've bought mine from them. I saw that someone from the forum had T-shirts made for their kids that had numbers on the backs: #1, #2, #3 etc. I thought that was WAY TOO CUTE but I forgot who that was. I bet that makes field trips way easy.

I bought my plain pink t-shirts (and onsies for my two infants) from Hobby Lobby and just used iron transfer paper for the design on front and the numbers on the back. It DEFINITELY makes fieldtrips easier because all of the older kids walk in front of the stroller and I can say "Okay, there's one, two, three.....". (I'm not sure why the middle shirt on the top picture is coming out more "pink" :confused

I've washed these shirts maybe around 6 or 7 times and they are still vibrant and perfect. The only difficult part was cutting around the design on the transfer paper. Pain in the butt!

That is really good to have the printing on the back!!! it's a lot safer, you would be amazed how many daycares/ centers will use the same color shirts as you. I actually had a teacher grab my dd on a field trip because she thought she was one of hers, now we have printing on the back and front.
Mine says.."I'm loved at Michelle's daycare" and has a cute picture of kids playing on the front and my phone number and logo on back.

Yep that's deffinetely it! I love that idea. I'm thinking of doing something similar for myself too. I already went out to buy the iron-on transfers and I figure that if I just wash them in the gently cycle in cold water and line-dry them that they'll last a good long time. If you've already washed yours a few times and they're still in good shape then I'm sure that mine will be ok too.

What sizes are the shirts you buy? At a rummage sale I came across of bunch of white t shirts for ten cents and bought three of them. They are all 2/3T so I was guessing an 18 month-3 year olds could wear these.

One thing I saw at our local fair was a stand where you paid for a shirt and then they "spray painted" it with your first name and circled/underlined it. It looked very fancy and was about $15 total for everything. It went based off one word, but I would have all the shirts with my daycare name on it and then maybe my logo on the back. I don't want my number on the shirts simply because my name will be registered and in the phone book and if someone googles it they will find my number. I don't want a random person off the street dialing doing prank calls watching me answer the phone.

Abigail, I bought two onsies that were 12/18 months and they fit great on my 4 month old and 7 month old. For the shirts, I bought 2T/3T's for my other kids and they are between 18 months and 4yo. The shirts fit them all pretty well.

Hi Ladies,

I really wanted to do tshirts for the kids for christmas (basically a picture in the front that they can color with fabric markers and the back it will say "I am loved at Elizabeth's Place Daycare" or "I love it at Elizabeth's Place Daycare")

I have found the blank tshirts online and now I am having problems figuring out how to do it! I am not familiar at all with iron ons - is it something that they can paint/color or will that make it come off?

Have them color a picture, take a photo and then you can print it onto the iron on transfer paper with your color printer.

This is better than having them paint right on the Tshirts as acrylic paint does not come off clothes and then you don't have a ruined shirt if you have to do a "do over".

I dont do them, but saw some once that another provider did. She bought bright neon green shirts and let the kids do their handprints on them.

They were super cute, and the neon was great cause you could see them easily as a group. It was a great bright color that you could easily identify which kids were yours.
