i know our walmart has it, outside by the regular sand and mulch. its more expensive (around $6 a bag) then the regular ($3.28/bag). i think it comes in blue, green, and pink.

I like that recipe. I made the one with flour and we took it outside and put in in the watertable to play with and it worked for a couple of days. Then it rained and the table top wasn't on tight and after it got wet it smell so bad. Wasn't one of my best ideas.

you can squeeze and shape it without using water, and then it crumbles right back to loose sand again. unlike regular sand which stays packed until it dries.
we'll see if the homemade is just as good as the commercial stuff.....

                        thanks melskids...

it says sand but that she uses crayola. is that just for the color? does it matter what kind of sand?

So I went to walmart, target and michales to look for the sand.
I have the same question as person above.
Does it have to be crayola sand with color?

i'm sure regular sand would work. its just that crayola sand is colored.

i cant try it until this weekend. i refuse to spend the gas $$ to go all the way to the store 45 minutes away, so if anyone tries it before then, with either type of sand, let me know!!!!

I enjoy menards, but have to drive 2 hours to get there. Needless to say, I don't go often!!

I could be wrong, but I think that crayola sand has a different texture. Almost plastic like. I remember feeling it once and thinking it had a different feel to it.
