    Earthquake/Tsunami

My oldest son's good friend from preschool/K & his family moved back to Japan last year (they are Japanese). We have not kept in touch with them (other than Christmas card). I e-mailed the mom but have not heard back but I am trying to figure out if they were in the worst-hit area/s? If anyone knows please let me know. They live in Tochigi in the city of Utsunomiya-shi. I am hopeful she e-mails me back. I can not find them on Facebook.

We have a friend that lives in a suburb of Tokyo, she is ok. I am thinking if they lived in the outskirts of the city, more than likely no electricity. Did you google map it to see where the city is located. I think the epicenter was north of Tokyo.

Here is a link from Google Maps that gives you an idea where that place is from Tokyo.
Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

you will have to copy the name of the town/city in the search map, and it will come up. Scroll out to view in relation to Tokyo.

I was able to determine that they are more centrally located rather than in the NE region. Hopefully they are safe.
