    So Mad About Pick Up

so I had this family start in dec. I was told that they would be picked up at 430. Well its now extended to 545pm. I'm beyond mad. I gave him an old contract and i wrote down my new times. I close at 5pm, thats 10 hours a day I work. I have now been late to several things now, but today it was after 530pm when he picked up, I had the kids dressed and shoed them out. This late staying is causing havoc on my meal time and activities (I wrote about feeding them dinner, well now dad expects me to feed them and not pay extra) not only this, I charge them 5 dollars an hour for after school care, well she was here for only an hour and now its 2 hours. All they do is complain about money, because they pay 40 dollars a day for 2 kids. So now he calls and asks if he can bring them at 715am if he can get them up. I don't mind the occasional lateness because I understand traffic, but I had a dad come (he's a mechanic and was looking at my van) who works all the way on the other side of the city and it took him 20 min. I also find that its too long for the kids. Oh, I now don't eat dinner anymore because of this, because I'm too busy entertaining them or rushing out the door to be somewhere. So tues, my new contract comes out, it will be interesting.

You can't rely on words between you to get arrival and departure time agreements. You HAVE to have a signed agreement of the EXACT maximum times the kids can attend. If you allow them to exceed it without fees then in their minds the extended hours BECOMES their daycare times.

I also do NOT allow more than nine hour days unless the child has less than five days per week and pays full time rates plus a five dollar an hour additional fee beyond the base rate. I base rates on a nine hour day and departure times. The later the departure the more expensive the care.

Our rates are calculated differently than most child care homes and Centers. The rates are based upon the total number of hours per day and the departure time. The published rates are based on a maximum of a nine hour day. If you need more than nine hours per please add $5.00/hour to our base rates.

We have a different rate structure for part time. Part time is a minimum of three full working days per week. We do not provide drop in care. We do not offer half day rates.

Full Time Rates (2011) based upon a maximum of nine hours a day and time your child departs from day care:

    3:00 p.m. departure $140.00 per week

    3:15 p.m. departure $145.00 per week

    3:30 p.m. departure $150.00 per week

    3:45 p.m. departure $155.00 per week

    4:00 p.m. departure $160.00 per week

    4:15 p.m. departure $165.00 per week

    4:30 p.m. departure $170.00 per week

    4:45 p.m. departure $175.00 per week

    5:00 p.m. departure $180.00 per week

    5:15 p.m. departure $185.00 per week

    5:30 p.m. departure $190.00 per week

    5:45 p.m. departure $195.00 per week

    6:00 p.m. departure $200.00 per week

    Part Time Rates

    3:00 p.m. departure $34.00 per day

    3:15 p.m. departure $35.00 per day

    3:30 p.m. departure $36.00 per day

    3:45 p.m. departure $37.00 per day

    4:00 p.m. departure $38.00 per day

    4:15 p.m. departure $39.00 per day

    4:30 p.m. departure $40.00 per day

    4:45 p.m. departure $41.00 per day

    5:00 p.m. departure $42.00 per day

    5:15 p.m. departure $43.00 per day

    5:30 p.m. departure $44.00 per day

    5:45 p.m. departure $45.00 per day

Additional hours beyond nine hours per day billed at $5.00 per hour.

Overtime must be pre-arranged and approved.

We do not raise rates on current attending children at any time unless the child's schedule changes to a higher number of hours per day or a later departure.

Discounts: We do not currently offer discounts for sibling groups.

State Funded Clients: We do not accept State Funding at this time

so anyways, he comes in this morning and he says that i told him that he can't bring the kids early. I have no idea what he is talking about because my earliest comes at 715am and its been like that for 4 yrs. I think the problem is, is that I spoke to mom at interview time, well I don't think this is a full family unit (still trying to figure it out and they arn't giving me any info) so I think it comes down to miscommunication.

        1) Get what you want to see happen in writing.
        2) State what financial repercussions will be if above is not adhered to.
        3) "Effective immediately due to repeated breach of contract".
        4) Get it signed.
        5) ENFORCE IT WITH NO APOLOGY
        6) Watch excuses turn into money.
