Tips for Helping an Infant Adjust

I started an 8 month old yesterday...she's never been in care before. She's never even been baby-sat before. Every minute of her 8 months has been spent with mama and daddy.

I know it takes awhile for wee ones to settle in to a new care situation; I know that 8 mos is a prime separation anxiety age. She seems very nervous around the other kids, gets upset when things get noisy, gets upset when I have to pull out my stern voice. I think she's held a lot at home or spends a lot of time in baby equipment--she isn't a super steady sitter and is barely crawling.

What are some tips from you more seasoned providers for helping this sweetheart settle in and get comfortable?
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!
