Huge Tantrum Because Of Change In Schedule

DCM dropped off DCG at 12:15 right after a dr apt.
All the other kids just layed down for a nap. After her mom left, dcg spent the next hour & 1/2 screaming and throwing a tantrum. Throwing herself and kicking. Keeping the kids awake. I do not want that to happen again so im thinking of telling mom that they need to schedule her apts in the late afternoon, so she is getting picked up early rather than dropped off late. The change in schedule seemed to disturb her. AND EVERYONE ELSE.
Am i right to bring this up and set this rule? This was the most stressful transition/ nap time ive ever had.

absolutely! They probably thought they were going to spend the day with mom and not go to daycare at all that day.

I would make a cut off time that you were comfortable like 9am or something.

This is partly why I choose to have a drop off cut off time.
It prevents kids sleeping in and screwing with nap time as well as any early morning/afternoon appointments.

Ways to avoid this in the future:
      1. Only one drop off and pick per family, per day.
      2. Drop off time cut off of X
      3. Immunizations appointments must be made where the parents can monitor for adverse affects for a full 24 hours before returning to care.

In my policies I specifically state that parents cannot pick up or drop off during nap time and they need to schedule their appointments accordingly. It is extremely hard for a kid to go from being with mom and then right to nap. There has to be a routine that winds the kids down before nap.

I had a family want to drop off every day at 1pm for a half day of care which is my nap time. I told them they needed to drop her off at 11:30am so that the kid had time to play, eat and then go for nap. No way was she being dropped off and then right to nap!
