my kids do the same and I do not care. Less attention you demonstrate, less time they do it. Even more: I can join to them. why not? happyface
My kids were occupied by this activities around 2-3 weeks. Than it just disappears. They find some other crazy things to do

For me it's not the actual activity that drive me crazy....it's the amount of chalk ($$) they go through while doing this.

I don't usually care "how" they play with some things either but if I am having to spend $50 a week on chalk, something has to change or the kids need to start bringing their own.

I found this really cool activity on pinterest that you use the chalk crumbles to make a frozen chalk paint pop. I will have to see if I can find it..

This is my thoughts on it. We tell the kids "make sure you're using my toys the right way" Rarely do I have to go into more detail than that, because they DO know how to use it the right way, they're just choosing not to :P
