    Family Emergency

I had a family emergency so I had to take some time off. During that time it was going to be one of my dck last day. So now I'm not sure how to end it.

Do I send Mom a letter or get him a little gift and deliver it?

Hmm, I am not sure...I guess it would depend on what your relationship with the child/family was like.

If they've been with you a long time I might consider sending mom a letter or even directly sending the DCK a card saying goodbye and that you are sorry you missed their last day.

Otherwise if the family wasn't there real long and you don't have a history with them, I'd also consider just letting it go. Kids move on and life continues...kwim?

This also goes both ways.... did the family contact you and say goodbye or say thanks for everything type of message?

Sorry my ramblings aren't much help but I am just thinking out loud. I had a family of 3+ years leave not too long ago and other than "this is our last day" there was nothing...no card, no thank you for your services etc exchanged at all so I guess my thoughts are, whatever you choose to do that it is dependent on your relationship with the family.

What do you normally do for a last day?

I write a note to the parents and give the child a framed group photo so I'd just mail them.

I would send a little note. ALso I would send a postcard or letter addressed to the child. I do this for each of the kids last days (big center, not many leave). A simple note about how I loved having them in my class and one thing I will always remember. Usually its a post card with a picture of the child in our classroom or my cats (which are a huge part of our class even though there never there)
