I have. Several times. I write it in newsletters. I post it by the door. I've even sent home reminder fliers. But I still get that one who shows. Nothing like having to get out of bed and run to the door and remind them its a holiday!

I had one year where I was originally opened on Good Friday. I had no clients that day. Everyone was off. I had one client who just had a baby and was home and tech off anyway. She just dropped off DC kids for some sanity time here and there. So I even called and asked if they were coming before that day just to make sure. Nope. They would be off too. Great! SO we woke, got up and went to breakfast with a friend/client and their son too. Nice quiet slow morning. I come home to find about a dozen angry messages on my machine. The maternity mom decided last min to drop off and was pissy I had the nerve to close. Now....let me explain...it says in my info if I have few or no clients I will base my day on that. So if I have only a few....we are off to the zoo! If I have none...I am off to do errands. I don't sit all day and wait for them to decide to show or not. Or in this case, change her mind! Second I CALLED the mom before and asked cause they weren't coming like usual and wanted to make sure. It was kinda HER issue not mine. After that...I now close Good Friday period. No more second guessing. And Miss K gets a lovely no stress breakfast with her family.

      Same.

I put a camera by my front dc door/entrance. I watch from the app as they ring the bell, get no answer, look confused, read the dang sing and stomp off. ::

Yes, it happened to one yesterday. She even asked me if I was going to the memorial day parade, and if they could park in front of our house since we are super close to the parade route (No and NO)

This is when not living in my daycare is nice.

I have a video camera system that allows me to see activity at my daycare property when I am at home so I would be alerted to any parent that showed up.

If they did, they'd see a sign on the door like Diva said stating I was closed until X date and know I wasn't open but honestly I've had the same families now for so long that most know the holidays and days I am closed so there is no constant reminding.

          Yikes!

I haven't had it happen to a non-relative, but my own kids are notorious for not knowing when I'm going to be closed. "I don't read the newsletter" ... "The newsletter goes to my span so I never see it" ...

This year I was "closed" Friday also, because our 18 yr old graduated on Saturday but I had the 2 grandkids so it wasn't really a day off.

I haven't had anyone show up on my closure dates but I text everyone about a week beforehand and that seems to be enough.

I don't close for many holidays, mostly just the ones we actually celebrate. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, 4th of July...and I close on Labor day so I can go to the city to get all of the school/art/office supplies for the year while they are on sale.

I've had parents forget that I take 3 days for Christmas and thanksgiving though. I don't answer the door, there is a sign.
