    Pregnant And Doing Daycare

Has anyone else whose done daycare while pregnant feel like it is seriously going to be the end of them? I am 26 weeks and have 4 toddlers plus my own and I can hardly keep up with them anymore. I also have numerous behavioural issues with a couple of the kids that are stressing me out. I plan on working until I am 38 weeks and then I'm going to be a stay at home mommy, but I don't feel like I'm going to make it that far and I really want to because I've told my families I will! For those of you who've had babies while doing daycare, when did you go off work? How many kiddies did you have while you were pregnant? Did you go back to doing daycare? If so how old was your baby when you did? Thanks!!

With DS I was a nanny to twin almost 3 year olds. I worked till the day I went into labor. Went back when DS was 2 weeks. With DD, I had DS (1 at the time) and 1 daycare kid (under a year). Did the same, worked till the day before I went into labor (both times went into labor at midnight) and went back when she was 2 weeks.

I was doing childcare through all three of my pregnancies. That last trimester is tough I know! I worked up to the births and started back two weeks later with the full group of 10. Just couldn't afford to take any more time off than that.

That's great that you get to stay home after baby is born!

Wow, I wonder what I will end up doing once I get pregnant. Is it not average to take a month off from daycare or is that too hard on the daycare families even if you don't charge? I would want to take off at least 1 up to 2 weeks before delivery and then have two weeks recovery and just experience being a mom. I plan to open daycare before my husband and I have our first child so I have no idea what to expect. I obviously want to do daycare to stay home with my kids when I have them, but want to get some experience under my belt before being pregnant.

I'm pregnant (about 23 weeks...maybe 24...I forget...I'm due May 31) and doing daycare. I have 4-6 kids each day (one is mine; she's 3 and the oldest I watch) and I watch one other child on Saturday (so, 2 kids on sat.) as well. It's hard; hormones have my temper totally b****y lately and my patience is shot. I take a deep breath many times a day, try to remind myself that things will be easier once the weather warms up and we can get outside, and remind myself that what I'm doing pays half the bills and it's important. And that the kids are sweet some of the time ::.

I'll be working up until I go into labor. I'll only be getting one week off daycare, one week with my DH home doing all the childcare, and then I'm on my own! I can't afford to take any more time than that off, and my daycare families can't afford me to take more time off. The original plan was to have my mom come help during the 3rd and 4th weeks post baby, but she got REALLY sick at the end of November and might not even be out of the hospital/nursing facility yet by June. One of my sisters will be having a baby about a month before me and has two kids already; the other sister has 3 kids. They'll help when they can, but it will be limited.

We do what we gotta do. [insert shrugging smiley here]. I had a goal of having my house completely cleaned out and decluttered and organized before the baby hit that magic "age of viability" and I've actually made really good headway on it. We're a couple weeks out from that, and I should be mostly there. That's doing a TON to alleviate my stress!
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I did daycare when I was pregnant with my third at the time I was licensed and had my 2 kids ages 4 and 8 at the time plus 6 daycare kids I worked untill I was 36 weeks pregnant and took off for 12 weeks Im SO glad I did because you can NOT get that time back with your child. I did reopen after 12 weeks my baby was 10 weeks old BUT I ended up closig a month and half last due to hubby getting better job out of state I didt go back to daycare till that April and its unlicensed with 2 kids thats what you can have in the state I love and my own kids dont count. It was hard being pregnant near the end I was tired all the time the kids made me frustarted easily even my own ad the daycare parents heck everyone made me frustrated.

When I was pregnant with DD (#2)I cared for 4 kids (1 was DS). After she was born I had 4 (2dck + DS & DD). I'm pregnant with #3 now, 35 days til the c-section! I have 3.5 (2 dck + DD & DS who is in school-he's the .5). I took off just under 8 weeks with DD. With #3, I'm only taking 4, but DH will be home for 6 weeks.

The last part of the 2nd trimester & all of the 3rd have been hard. My patience is gone with everyone. It's especially hard since we're stuck inside almost all day except to take DS to/from school. At this point I feel huge, it's hard to get down on the floor & back up, I'm uncomfortable, etc. I'm sorry for sounding so negative. My pregnancies are relatively easy, so I shouldn't complain. Like Silversabre said, "we do what we gotta do." You make adjustments, try to smile through the bad days when you feel like ripping someone's head off, and come here to vent and get support

I did daycare with my third fourth and fifth son. With my third son I work up to three hours before I had him. With my fourth and fifth the week before I was being induced so I knew the day plus I only did after school care. Its hard being pregnant and going all day I only did after school care while my two yougest were babies.

20 4/5 year olds by yourself? That can't be legal.
