Didn't Realize I Was So Low

I've always wondered how my rates compare to other local home providers. I met with my mentor this afternoon(she is THE sweetest lady ever) and we were talking about lots of things. We were talking about rates and I found out going rates for infants in my area are 130 bucks with centers charging up to 175. I charge 105. I told her I've been giving myself raises in other ways like charging 52 weeks a year and doing away with sibling discounts. But starting the beginning of the year, you can bet I'll be upping them little by little.

I had heard that providers in my area were dropping their rates as there was too much competition. I charge $140 regardless of age. I found out that providers are charging $175 for preschool and $200 for infants.

Give yourself a raise. Be sure to point out the highlights of your program to anyone new that comes along!

      5 day in-home daycare out here is about $145/week for toddlers/preschoolers (7:30-5:30/6:00).
      I charge $140/week for 4 day preschool and $70/week for 2 day preschool (8:00-5:00).

        Definitely give yourself a raise!
My licensor just implied the same thing to me. But I don't enroll infants (unless it's a sibling and on a case by case basis).

But man... infant rates here are $185 in home and closer to $300/week for center!

When I started 3 years ago, I charged $25 a day. I don't charge extra for infants. After my initial signups, I charged more for each person who signed on. I'm now at a tiered rate for pickup time of $150/ $160/ $170 depending on picking time, so between $30-34 per day. No one has ever balked at my prices, so I must still be low.

While I am sad my first few enrollees are leaving for preschool, I'm also happy because it forces out the last of the $25 a day clients. I never raise my lroces for clients that sign on, just future clients.
