    So Proud of Myself

I had 2 dcf's today that wanted to drop off later normal. I had no problem with that, but I have a new drop off time of 9:00 am at the latest.

At 8:50 they still weren't here. I texted them tobremind them of the (very new) policy, one made it here, and one wasn't going to. Ibtold thebone who wasn't going to make it, I would see her tomorrow. I feel like a new woman!!! This dcf is off today anyway, so I can't even pretend to feel bad.

This is my very favorite new rule. Drop offs after 9:00 totally wrecked the flow of our day. Whoo hoo!

Most of mine are pretty good about sticking to a schedule and are all usually her no later than 9am however, if they arent here for whatever reason (even if they notify me they are running late) I still go about my day as normal. Even if that means we are leaving the property.

Did the family you had to tell to stay home say why they were unable to make it by 9? Were they upset about not being able to use care today?

Congrats! I have the same cut off time, and find it very helpful.

I have had the same cutoff time for over a year now and I LOVE IT. I have turned away a few families at the door. At 9, we go on our walk, and start our day. What drove me crazy about the late drop offs was that the kids had slept in, were way off schedule (some had eaten late, some hadn't eaten yet, etc)

I started it because my families would just show up late- my 7:30am families would just drop off at 10 with "Oops, overslept!"

I WILL accomodate a later drop off IF I get advance notice, it has to be a minimum of 24 hours in advance and the child must come fed/changed and on schedule.

They let dcg, age 18 months go to the fireworks last night and I know around here, they weren't over until 10:30. Her normal bedtime is around 8, and she wakes up about 6:30 every morning.

Dcm contacted me this morning and said she wanted to let her sleep in, so no problem, I'm pretty flexible. But dcg was still sleeping at 8:50 am when I contacted dcm.

Dcf wanted an 10:30 or 11:00 drop off with a 4:00 pm pickup. They are home today, so I didn't feel bad saying no. They would have dropped her off with her having no chance for a nap here. It would have been awful.

I forgot to add...I think dcm was okay with this, but they typically drop dcg off here every vacation day they have when they are home. So maybe they are upset and blasting me around town because they couldn't drop her. Not my problem I think 9:00 is lenient when your normal drop off time is 7:30.

OP Here, A million times yes. I have parents with pretty good communication skills, but they still liked to take half days or vacation days and drop off really late. 10:00 and 11:00 late. I keep a pretty strict schedule, so by that time (10:00 anyway), we have already done a craft, learned about most of our subject for the day, and we are half done with music. Late dck comes in, all upset they missed stuff. Sees cool craft, wants to do it, I say, "sorry, its time for reading," and the fit of the century occurs.

Not to mention they never sleep for me on those days.
