    Daycare Hopping

I enrolled a drop in client, 3.5. She has attended a handful of times over the last few months. She is a SAHM and uses the spaces for me time/appts/to get things done. No big deal. The mother recently asked me for a FT space starting as soon as it was available, she wants to return to work FT. Dcg and dcm are fine, so I agreed to put her on my waiting list.

I had her in attendance yesterday, and a provider friend walked by with her crew while we were outside. The little girl knew her by name!

Chat with provider, this provider just 'let them go' and will not accept her as a drop in. I find out Mom DOES work FT. Dcg was enrolled as a drop in with her, with a half dozen other providers AND at the YMCA child care program! Mom literally uses a MINIMUM of 8 day cares. She pays daily, and since she is drop in, she has no obligation to pay for days dcg isn't in attendance. The provider was able to send me links to photos of this girl, all within the last month, at 7 other places on daycare websites and fb pages! She never confronted the dcm, just 'no longer has any availability'. From talking to the kid, it sounds like dcm tries to pawn her off with friends, family first "Sometimes I go to (name)'s house, or (grandparents) if nobody can watch me, I get to go to school that day! I like this school and X school the best!"

Anyone seen this before? What a hassle! and NO, I am NOT enrolling them.

Sounds like mom has reached ninja level on the loophole meter.

Guess she figured out what works for her. ::

As long as she pays on time and follows the rules, I would not worry about it too much. Is she paying, following rules?

Sounds like kid is doing ok with it? Some kids would have a hard time, but others like change and are very adaptable.

The lying would bug me a bit, but it is obvious to me why she has learned she has to.
    - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

As long as she paid on time and followed the rules I personally wouldn't care what she was doing while her child was in daycare especially since I get paid more for drop in care. Truthfully I'm always catching people up in lies. Unless it's directly affecting me or my business I just make a mental note that that person is a liar and move on.

She has pick up issues. She had payment issues with other provider, and has an unpaid balance. I am a bit more strict in that parents have to prepay via CC to attend WHEN they schedule the days and do not refund cancellations. This dcm DOES take every available day I have though.

She picked up late, and I hit her with a late fee (that she paid online), she said "I really thought you closed at 6!" I think she can't keep daycare's straight anymore.

Kid is fine though! She doesn't seem to have a very stable home life to begin with (boyfriends in/out, everytime she is here they have a 'new house') I think Mom is just a little nuts. Lots of moving in a few months, lots of daycares, lots of guys.

I won't enroll her for the lying alone though. Not a good way to start out.

That's sad for the child. I'm a ****er and if Mom was actually following my policies and not trying to negotiate them/get by them then I would enroll them full time. But, that's just me. I wouldn't be left without payment because I require them to pre-pay and they have already paid their final two weeks before ever starting.

I may enroll full time, but would expect my policies to be followed, including prepaying and no discounts for absences. I wouldn't like the lie either though so I would be leery.

I have to add that I have MANY lying moms. Many.

They lie about things so they can do things their way...except that doesn't work here. So, they wind up lying, I wind up acting confused and repeating their lie and the other things they have said that don't add up, I watch them struggle to make it all make sense, and then I say, "Okay. Well, ___." so they are aware that an exception won't be made.

Outside of the lying, they're great clients. I don't let them break the policies so I don't feel bitter towards them. I just wouldn't want to be their friend...which is fine.

She's definitely achieved ninja level on the loophole meter.

I have a DCM that has new boyfriend to live with every 6 months or so......its called the rent loophole. This lady should put her ninja skills to good use!

I would say that as long as she pays and you are happy with the deal, who cares how mom works. If she's asking you for a full time space, she or dd must prefer your services, or price, so as long as she pays, I'd say yes.

                            "has an unpaid balance"

Nope, if I was desperate maybe, but not if she still owes another daycare money. AND she has a late pick up problem? And add lying on top of that? Definitely not.

I guess the unpaid balance part wouldn't bother me. That is between her and the provider. Here, it is pretty much impossible to get an unpaid balance because everything is paid in advance.
