It's That Kind Of A Day

It started with a time out. I don't give time outs very often; weeks go by without anyone (even my own child) needing a time out for something. Dcb2.5 hit the cat though and he is old enough to know better. Time out, move on. Breakfast, dcb 14mos screams the entire time because his blankie is out of his hands (working to wean him off of it with parental back-up). Usually he settles down eventually and eats--not the case this morning. Little while later, another time out for dcb2.5 (two in one day?! Practically unheard of!) this time for throwing a plastic egg directly at dcb14mos face from two feet away. It's only ten o'clock...

The only saving grace for the day is the fact that two of my kiddos aren't here and neither are home sick. Of course, one other one is inexplicably 45 minutes late...

    Sooo...how's your day going?

My ringleader is going home 2&1/2 hours early today!!!!!! I'm making the best of a dead of winter Wednesday by doing legos, babies, cars, books, AND tents at one time. Lol everyone got a fav center out. Usually I limit to two. But today I'm just going with the flow. Lol I think we are doing pancakes for lunch as well. :-)

My day is good, I was early to work, had time for an extra cup of coffee. The kids this morning were all girls but one boy, and they played tea party with him. He was the 'dad' who fixed things for them- their plate was 'cracked', he'd "glue" it back together, one girl pretended to have a leaky sink and she couldn't make tea...he came by with 'a hammer and nails' and fixed the leak...soooo funny!

they are bad, so I gave up and I'm only monitoring them. I have no idea what is going on this week, but its crazy. the dumping of toys, the tattling, the hitting, the meaness, it goes on and on, oh wait, I have a kid who keeps dropping the F word like its a part of his vocab. and every toy this week is a gun---and I have no idea (the gun thing) because they never play like this.

Well, my day has gotten a lot better to say the least. My nephew came over and he and my DD played and played and played together, giving dcb2.5 time to be on his own coming up with his OWN ideas. The dcg who was late finally showed up (and she is sweet as cotton candy, I love her!), and my nephew invited DD over to their house for the afternoon (they're only 9 mos apart) and the best part: DD accepted!!! So I have a nice, calm, quiet afternoon ahead of me!!!

It warms my heart to see her coming out of her shell and being willing to separate from me so easily!

Fun day here today! We are talking about winter animals. We read a great cute book, made a "hibernating bear" for art (and the 4 year olds even cut out their own and did a great job), talked about: hibernate, migrate, and adapt and classified animals that did each, colored with chalk on black paper, then outside for a nice long walk/play in the snow to look for winter animals. Then we played in "bear caves" (blanket draped over the table) and played a sleeping grizzly game. Then lunch and now...naptime! After nap it will be snack, free play, and Spanish. The rest of the day should go by in a flash! (If they ever wake up...they've been napping 2 hours...all of them!)

Now last week, that was a different story! So, I can sympathize...
