With school fast approaching here, the daycare kids and I will be walking my son to the bus stop every morning and walking to greet him at the bus stop in the afternoon. The bus stop is only a block from my house, and when I timed it, it should take us 2 minutes to get there. I have a walking field trip permission slip signed by each of my parents so that we can go on neighborhood walks whenever. Is the bus stop walk something that I should mention to the parents formally?

I would just mention it like this. "Hey you signed a walking permission slip and I wanted to let you know that we will be doing a daily walk to the bus stop in the morning and afternoon to get DS on and off the bus. Just wanted you to know it would become a daily thing and the kids will be supervised at all times". I think parents will like it, because it means you will be able to put their kids on the bus when the time comes! I advertise that I do the bus thing, but it stops in my yard and I love that.

We do the same for my daughter, the walk is about 7-8 minutes long. I let the parents know that it's part of our routine. Last year I had one parent who was concerned about what would happen when the weather was too cold or when it was raining. I just repeated, "We're going to walk to the bus stop," with a nice little smile on my face. School agers do it every day, there is no reason that we can't too!- Flag
