Nap time for 21 month old

I have a new dcg, 21 months, and I'm not sure/don't remember if this age usually still takes a morning nap. She gets to my house at 6:30 so she probably gets up around 5:30. She acts sleepy around 10:00 or 10:30, but I don't want to put her down for a nap that close to lunch. What do you guys do for naps at this age?

One nap a day for that age.

I also only do one nap for that age. Nap time here is from 12 - 2:30.

I dont care how old you are, at that time you go straight back to nap until right before breakfast. that is way too long for a child to stay up.

I learned that children are programmed on a natural time clock of being able to stay awake and alert for about 4-6 hours at time, this does depend on age.

so if a 2 yr old woke up at 730 then by 1230-5 hours later they are ready to nap. they sleep a solid 2 hour nap waking up at 230, that puts them to bed back at 730pm., again 5 hours later.

so that makes complete sense that your child is waking at 530 and then trying to sleep again 5 hours later.

Years ago I did 6am drop off time and any kid that came at that time went right back to bed. Always worked like a charm and made my mornings great. I was able to clean my whole house while they slept.

Thanks for the replies. My other one naps at 1:00 so I think I'll try putting her back down for a while when she gets here. There's no one else here that early to keep her awake and by 10:30 she's whining and clinging which makes it difficult to fix lunch.

I think that sounds good. Maybe just a 30 minute nap early in the morning would help her out.
