We are going on our 5th day indoors this week due to rain. We've been out for about 20 minutes twice this week. We're all going crazy. Haha! Any ideas on fun out of the ordinary things to do? I thought about making a huge fort with sleeping bags, popcorn, & a movie, by I'd love some non tv ideas! Thanks!!!

We go out in the rain! Rain boots or bare feet, crocs, whatever. If there's no thunder and it's warm enough, out we go. We've had rain here all week too and we've jumped in the puddles more days than not. Even just 20 minutes of puddle jumping and their mood and activity level improves a lot. Are you able to go out when it's like this?? I know where I live we're supposed to get rain all next week too...ugh. -
Movement games like Twister. Even little ones can play with modifications.
At slow times I pull out this bag of different action ideas. I add more to it when I'm in the mood, so we have a good variety. The kids love it!
They could help you organize or clean. I have a big under-the-bed type bucket that's filled with paints, etc. I'm going to have them take everything out and let them organize it today.

This is us, too. We go out every day, regardless of the weather. The kids love the rain. Mud puddles, chalk drawing on wet sidewalks or easels, collecting rain water, pouring/dumping.
Some inside ideas:
treasure hunt: take up close photos of things in the play room and challenge them to find them all
Trip to the moon: pillows and cushions on the floor for the moon. Build a rocket ship.
Art day: Lots of different activities, materials, etc. Then create a museum to view everyone's work.

Thanks ladies! I'm out of bug spray so I didn't want to take them out back with the rain. I've gotten ate up this week. We did go to the moon on a rocket and they loved it!!! And played some board games. We survived the week. Have a great weekend!Comment
