Are PPL Really This Strange?

Termed a dcf about 4 months ago. Partially my fault as they were my first family and I did not set the expectation that they would be full time and gave them a daily rate. Well, pretty soon 5 days a week turned into 2 days here, 3 days, no days, etc. When I confront dcm she seemed shocked that I would want a steady income. After a few emails back and forth, she just didn't reply and didn't bring her back at all.

Well, I have a new space available, and who should reply to my ad?? This dcm! What? I kind of felt like we did not leave on good terms. Also, she has another daughter appearantly?

The fact that she needs care again tells me to avoid this situation completely!

Is this normal? I'm just so surprised, and I can't stop giggling to myself

I think some clients just don't get it. I had an interview last week with someone that had actually interviewed a few years prior and did NOT like my 52 weeks a yr fee....guess what I allowed her to interview for her second child and she still didn't like it. Funny thing is I told her on the phone before the interview the fees were still the same but she still wanted the interview???? It is like she thought SHE would change MY mind....WRONG!!!!!

So she doesn't want to pay for her space? I don't know too many that do a pay as you go program.

Apparently she is finding out the hard way, . I had a situation like that a few months ago, she never started because she made it clear in the interview she thought it would be her rules. Then she answered my ad, I responded saying sorry to see she was having trouble finding daycare, then I gave her some of the centers near by to try and help her.

I don't think OP's situation had much to do with respect but more to do with miscommunicated expectations like she said.

It's fairly common for first time parents seeking daycare to not have a clue how it all works...

I'd actually consider taking the family back but only AFTER we went over the handbook and talked about everything so I knew we were all on the same page before beginning again.

They definitely knew it was me.

Also this is not their first child. Which is what I chalked it up to when we first parted ways. In this email she just sent to me, she has a 6 year old...which I never knew about.

It was a communication problem, on both ends though. I'm a pretty laid back person and I didn't realize how annoying it would be to not be able to rely on a regular paycheck. And when she said she needed x days/week, I took that at face value and expected that. I didn't realize she would switch jobs a couple weeks later as well as there being somebody else caring for her (I'm pretty sure). And now it sounds like she has switched jobs again!

I just really didn't feel good about it when it was all over...!

Anyways, funny situation. Super surprised to see that email this morning! Something to chuckle about.
