Offered family a fall space, they accepted...

and the emails aren't stopping. They keep coming up with new questions.

Most of the questions I can type a quick reply and add 'see the handbook'.

Any wording on how to firmly (and politely) say "Reread the handbook and stop emailing me questions that are covered and/or we already went over on interview or I will rescind the offer and you will not have the space?"

Usually this means they have not read the handbook or actually have read but do not agree with and seeing how far they can get with the extra questions. AND YES, THIS IS ANNOYING!!!! Rinse and repeat with "this is covered in the handbook". This will shut them up because they will either read it or know that what you said in the handbook is what you meant...no exceptions!!.

      Dear Bill and Jane

While I understand that choosing the right provider for your child is a daunting task and one that should not be taken lightly, I feel compelled to let you know that the point of our interview and tour was so that I could answer any questions that you had about myself and my program and vice versa.

However, it appears that even after this meeting there are many questions that were left unanswered. At this time, rather than continuing to e-mail back and forth I would like to suggest that you take the time to re-read the program handbook and make a list of all potential questions that are not answered within the program handbook.

If you are unable to find the answers to your questions within the handbook, please let me know and I can either respond to them via e-mail or we can set up another interview/tour so that your questions can be answered satisfactorily.

Please understand that my services are provided to many families with many different needs and it is time consuming for me to answer individual questions on a back and forth basis during the day while I am providing care and supervision to the children enrolled in my program.

      Sincerely

      Provider

If I was feeling really snarky....

I'd reply to each individual e-mail/text with "Sorry, juggling kids, activities and other day to day necessities so I am unable to address your questions individually. I will contact you later."

BC of course has a great reply.

Any time I've had a parent like this, with all these questions, they have turned out to be the biggest pita ever!

        Run, that's my advice ::

The parents come highly recommended. They are from a friend of mine who is closing, and they are awesome clients (her favorite clients, who she considered not accepting an amazing job to keep another 2 years) but total sticklers for the rules. I am going to send them word for word what bc posted and ask if they can write up a list and we can address it all when they come to sign paperwork Friday.

They're taking two of my spaces, and paying half rate all summer to save the spaces even though both parents are off (kids will attend two days/week or less, per contract). This was the same deal they had with their current provider, and they paid her in one lump sum for the summer. They also have a 9-4 schedule, and the interview was so awesome. I adored the children. I just need a way to address this without the back and forth! I did say if you have any questions to send me an email. I really don't mind them HAVING follow up questions, they are obviously reading and discussing my handbook. The last list asked about types of shoes I prefer for summer (no flip flops is in my handbook, and I said 'comfortable shoes with a heel strap') If they can leave 3-4 clothing changes in case they forget when the recommended 1 change gets sent home. I ask that no siblings come in to pick up- they asked if they could alter their pick up time 15 minutes earlier so that they could pick up their kids from me before picking up their SA son from after care.

I have a family that started out like this and is wonderful. They wanted to make sure they understood every.single.rule so that they wouldn't mistakenly break one. First time parents that wanted to make sure that the 8 week old baby wouldn't fail the trial period.

I ended up inviting them to come over again and just reassured them that while my contract is through and extremely detailed, I am a very reasonable person and have no problem talking to them about anything that comes up. I'm not going to give them a term notice at pickup because the baby coughed and I might think that they knowingly brought him sick.
