One Year Old Banging On Highchair

I have a 14m that will eat a few bites and then throw his food over the edge and start banging on his tray. I think that he does that because he wants to get down. I started taking away his food when he throws it, and making him wait a minute or two before I start giving him one bite at a time. I have no idea how to stop him from banging on his tray. If I take him out of his seat, he gets what he wants. I know he is still hungry because he whines and tries to get back in his seat within 5-10 minutes of lunch being over. Any advice?

Can you feed him sans tray?
Remove it the second he bangs. Feeding him bite by bite? Each occurance? Or wrap tray in a large bath towel so it doesn't bang? Or grab his hand and say NO. ?
With my bunch it's usually feet slamming into footrest. I wrap it in a towel so it only thuds. Not nearly as fun I guess. Lol

At that age I would have him in a booster at the table with all the kids, if he throws food he's done. It won't take long for him to learn. When he is done eating (or throws food) I would have him sit with everyone else until they are done. No up and down from the table. We all eat together and get up from the table together to move to the next activity.

I have two 14m boys and an 8m little boy. Since I only have babies, we really don't use the dining room table. Each baby has their own high chair and they are side by side. I did take your advice about not letting them get down until the other babies are done too

I tried the removing the tray yesterday and it worked beautifully! I don't know why I hadn't thought of that. They are Ikea high chairs, and somewhat of a pain to take apart. I usually only completely take them apart once or twice a week to scrub them, the rest of the time they get a bleach water wipe down.
