    Decision Help Please!

I'm in major playroom (well, whole house) redo mode. I have this train table (in pictures) that's just not doing anything at all for me anymore. I want to either convert it into a sensory table (how? ) or just sell it and but a sensory table. I'm looking at either this one http://www.amazon.com/Childrens-Fact.../dp/B003U32DAY with a lid or the smaller one by the same brand that comes with a lid. Thoughts?

Could you table the table top part off and find a plastic bin that would sit in it?

Probably not. It's really big. Maybe the size of 2 of the long under bed storage boxes. Ish. Not exactly, and that would not be sturdy enough I'm thinking. I might try. ...

I just sold my train table for $20 (more like gave it away). It just took up too much space. Now that it's gone, the kids keep asking for it.

          Of course they do!

This one rarely sees trains...they move all their play to the floor. I've used it as a surface for other toys but the 4in side makes it really hard for the smaller ones. And the height makes it hard for bigger ones...it's just a dumb piece of furniture.

My QRIS consultant just told me she had a provider turn her's into a light table. Rope lights and some acrylic from the glass shop.

That's an awesome idea...I'd have to paint it but I could possibly pull that off. I think it might still be too big. No one can easily reach the middle of the table.

Dang now I want a sensory table AND a light table. HA.

Do you know anyone handy with powertools that could sand some inches off the legs, or cut some of the sides off so that it's shorter for the littles?

I made a "kitchen island" insert for mine.

mail it to BC and let her husband convert it......

thats all I got...I am not good with that kind of stuff. We have all of our sensory bins sitting on a low table in long shallow storage bins that I bought from target. They have lids and are perfect for the kids...... We have never had any issues with the kids knocking them off, so for us this works really well...

I just put my train table away. The kids used it all the time, but I wanted them to play with other things. No ideas though. I'm going to have to look up what a light table is!

Bleh. I think I"m just going to buy a sensory table. Converting it will be annoying and it's too heavy to move easily when I rearrange my room. Which is often. Thanks ladies! Reading the suggestions helped me realize how much I don't want to go to the effort... ha.

Now I just get to decide large table or small table...
