    Being taking advantage of...

I have an issue I KNOW if my fault. However, I would like to correct it NOW!

I had a daycare 6 years ago and I did not have these problems. But, I did not allow any behavior that was against the policy that I set forth. I have been open since July 2014 and I have allowed policy issues and I have let things slide.

My hours are 7:30 - 6:00 and I have this one parent that comes 6:05 - 6:20 to pick up and the dad stands and begs this 18 month old to put on their coat and let go of toys. She will hold the toy and cry and he begs and begs and begs. It takes him 30 min to get her coat on and to get out the door. OK I am tired aand I have things to do for my family after dayare hours!

They are always complaining (in a nice way) like can I post a sign on the door that says open the door with caution because their child did get hit by the door. However, the door was open and another parent allowed her child to play with the door and it hit this one child. Then last night they complained that their daughter smelled like smoke. Just like I told him during their interview I am a smoker BUT I DO NOT SMOKE IN FRONT OF THE KIDS, AROUND THE KIDS, OR IN THE DAYCARE ROOM. He told me that after daycare hours I would not be allowed to smoke in my own house because the smell travels. First of all, I know smoking is bad...I do not smoke around my own kids so why would I do it around another. Secocnd of all, what I do after dayare hours is my business and you have NO RIGHT to tell me what I can and cannot do in my own home. So I ask all the other parents if their kids smell like smoke or if they smell it in my daycare and they all looked at me funny and said NO.

When these people first enrolled they edited my enrollment and policy forms by marking out things and writing what they would agree to. For example: they marked out the late payment fees and put N/A and so forth. Then when they "forgotten" to pay they would tell me to my face that they would pay this evening and it really did not matter..no big deal.

I am thinking of sending out policy reminders and telling the parents that I can no longer let these slide. Late payment fees and late pick up fees would apply. What do you all normally charge for late pick up? Any ideas how to word this policy reminder? I do not want my anger to show and I want to sound professional.

    THanks....
