    Well That Wasn't Good...

I have two boys who watch adult movies and play violent video games. Really is getting on my nerves that parents allow this. 80% of their talk is about these movies. I say....that is an adult movie so we aren't talking about it.

So...this morning a boy says to a girl....I'm gonna swipe your mom's head right off! The mom was standing right there! I told the girl to go talk to him (while I listened in) and she gave her a piece of her mind! Then I told the boy he needed to do the right thing to make things better. He apologized to the girl and even to the mom. He is a really sweet kid but boy....I am getting tired of this violent talk.

The other boy is more video game addicted. He acts like he's IN a violent video game almost all the time....shooting noises, contorted faces, talking to himself.....it's hard to explain. His favorite video game is Call of Duty.

What are we doing to our kids? And like I said before...acting these scenes out is NOT imagination! It's memorization!

    I HEAR YOU!!!!!!

I am so very sick of it myself. I have an almost 4yo dcb who plays mortal combat, grand theft auto, call of duty/black ops and is OBSESSED with NAZI ZOMBIES, his favorite show is left for dead, he can't remember/do any nursery rhyme or finger play but knows all the words to very inappropriate songs. Of course, children act out through play the things that they see to make sense of their world, so this is all he wants to play.

Unfortunately, his parents think it's awesome that he's so cool. They love referring to him as a teenager in a 4yo's body. Um, NO. He's actually VERY afraid, has nightmares, and is scared of being car jacked, thinks Zombies are real and will eat him, etc.

SO SAD. I am constantly vigilant about what he plays/says/does and even so some things slip through.

Your boy sounds like mine. He is bored through circle time. I can't compete with action and violent packed technology. He stares off into space. He can't do any finger plays either. Mine goes to kindergarten next year and he can't even write his name. I've only had him a few months but usually I can teach writing names by this time! He only knows a few colors. Parents seem oblivious and he turns into something else when mom shows up....he paws at her legs and make weird noises and faces. I will say....Sto-op (whiney voice). If he continues I will say....STOP! Of course he does.
