I have 2 preKs that do not take naps anymore, which is the expectation of DCFs. Is it necessary to get ready for Kindy? Absolutely not, but DCMs and DCDs love the early bedtimes.
Today, both families requested I put them down for naps to trick-or-treat tonight, and I forgot how W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L it is to have EVERYONE down. And it got me thinking how much the world has changed in 20 years (more or less, idk):
When I was a kid, Kindergarten used to be only half-days, because it was thought that kids 6 and under positively needed that nap. Nowadays, we providers are asked to stop napping kids as little as 2.5, most certainly at their 4th birthday, even when they are with us for 10 full hours 5 days a week!
Wow.
