No toys for you

I have 2 dcg's that are about the same age, 2.5 ish. They fight constantly lately over ANYTHING and EVERYTHING! One can't even look at a toy without the other running and grabbing it and saying mine! I've tried lots of things, even not allowing them to play near each other, which really doesn't work with my set up. I am down to 'NO toys...if you can't play with my toys nicely and share them, then you can't play with them at all"

I've taken the toys away too, in frustration. It's temporary though, because really, how can they learn to play with the toys together if they don't have them?
