    Words, I Need Words!

I lost my talkative dcg to school. She said her first word here and never quit talking and singing. She was funny, creative, happy, and yes, sometimes drove me crazy. But she was such good company. Now I have an almost 2 and an almost 3, both non-verbal, except for some random sounds and shrieks. And I have a tiny infant. I usually have therapists in and out all day, so I was counting on them for words. Somehow, we managed an entire week with no therapists.

I keep my docking station in the kitchen on a talk radio or sports radio station pretty much every day. It's turned down so low you don't really hear anything, but it's nice to hear adult voices every now and then. My mother in law doesn't count- she whines more than the kids.

Buy a couple of those repetitive CD's they use for training parrots.

This reminds me of the day when I was so tired of not seeing any adults. The kiddies wanted to play in the backyard but I told them no that we were going on a walk because I wanted to go look for some human beings.

They were too little to know what human beings were so I explained that human beings meant other people. I wasn't sure if they got it or not but then one dcg kept looking on the ground as if she were looking for something while we walked. I asked her what she was looking for and she said 'beans'. So then they all looked for 'beans'. I tried to explain again to no avail but then I saw a man in his yard. He made some comment to me about having a handful with the 3 little ones and he was friendly so I told the kiddies that HE was a human being. Then I told him about what we had talked about and that we were looking for human beings and we had a laugh.

Good luck finding words. Maybe take your kids out for a walk to look for words. ::
