    Fair or Unfair?

As some of you know, I am moving house/daycare 1.5 mile up the road.

Well all of the parents have been wonderful about it but 1.

They at first said it was out of their way, then it was not, then it was something else and now they are ok with the move, but they want discount.

I said no to the discount.

The DCP said that since I am having to change their morning drive, I should be required to give them a discount.

I responded with that it is their choice if they want to join us at the new location or not. If they don't they need to let me know with a 3 week notice.

BTW. I googled the DCP house and it is actually still on their route to their job and only less than 1/8 of a mile difference between my current house and the other one.

DCP said this morning that I am being a bit unfair.

She is being ridiculous and I think you are being pretty fair. She can either **** it up or find another daycare. Good for you for standing firm.

Sounds to me like someone is trying to take advantage of the situation to save some coin. If they keep complaining about it, I would hand them your withdrawl form and smile big.

Are you kidding me?! I can't believe they had the nerve to ask for a discount! Daycare, you are being fair. I would not offer a discount either. It's their choice whether or not they want to stay with you. Discount..smh

Show them the map! Ask what kind of compensation they feel is "fair" for an extra 1/8 of a mile that they have the option not to drive. This wasn't a choice for you and it wasn't "fair" that you had to move and fork out a buttload of money to move. I would say you have a hefty waiting list and if 1/8 of a mile
is too much there are LOTS of parents willing and able to without a discount. Ugh. I hate whiners!

Definitely sounds like someone trying to take advantage of you. Honestly you gave her an answer. I would give her a deadline and tell her that if she doesn't commit by that date then you will consider that date the beginning of her 3 week notice.

yes I think she is trying to take advantage of my move as a reason to try to get a discount.

Utterly ridiculous. No way would I offer a discount. I am sure they can handle sitting in their nice cool car and having to spend the minimal physical effort it takes to drive an extra 2 minutes. If not, they can go somewhere else that is "on their route." Give me a break. I wish they could spend a week seeing what it is like to have to rely on public transportation to not only get to work but to get their child to daycare. Then maybe they'd appreciate the fact that they have a high quality program to take their child to when many others do not even have that option. Sorry I am getting off topic but the entitlement just kills me!

I doubt the majority of the families there even know what public transportation is.

Definitely not unfair. You are moving, they can choose to move along with you or not. They're being difficult for little to no reason. No discount.

well you know better then that. Plenty of business relocate and they don't figure driving cost into the equation. If anything......you should charge more for the inconvenience your going to have of having to drive further......
I think you handled yourself perfectly and no I would not give a discount if I moved..... The Nerve! LOL
