    DCK Broke My Computer

    I'm fuming right now.
It was on top of a toy behind my recliner and dck took it upon himself to move it.
Its totally cracked, broken, not fixable.

Yes I know it is my fault. I'm so mad.

How old is dcb? He can share in the blame We shouldn't excuse kids just because we share the fault also, even if we shoulder most of the blame.

Sorry about your computer I have a fear of this happening. My entire house is dc related so there is no room that is safe

That really stinks! I'm sorry depending on his age I agree that he should ask before moving your personal items at the very least

          Just 3.
          39 months.
Very mature. I would compare to a four year old.

He should have asked for help. It was an accident. We did talk about it. It doesn't change anything.

I don't have anything backed up and I can't access anything. My whole frigging life is on there, including photos.

Best Buy, MicroCenter, or any computer shop will recover the hard drive for you!! Fear not! So sorry about it being broken though. I know how it feels to have your personal items abused by daycare kids!

My son (15 yrs old) slipped on the stairs while carrying mine one time and destroyed the screen. I did have it replaced for about $150. Cheaper than a new one and you can still recover all your stuff. That totally stinks though, I'm so sorry. Are you going to bring it up to the parents?

rats! so sorry this happened. Like you said, you cant leave anything in reach of kids, certainly not a pricey computer. I wouldnt ask the parents to pay for it. Its just a really unfortunate situation

If it's a cracked screen, I've replaced mine! Bought it on Amazon for $60ish, watch a YouTube video & was back in business the next day!

I had a parent crack mine by mistake. I took a small toy away from a child who had it in his pocket. I placed it on my laptop where the parent could see it at pick up. (they use checkinkids) Anyway, the next parent signed in for some odd reason, closed my laptop on the toy. Never has my laptop been closed!

This happened to my brother and a computer shop got all his stuff off for him but he paid megabucks for it....I then got an external hard drive and saved all my stuff into it....that would be horrendous if I lost all my daycare paperwork....I don't store a lot of pics.

The last time that my DS broke my laptop I had a hard drive that didn't have any moving parts and that survived. The computer itself wouldn't even turn on but my DH was able to take the hard drive out and extract all of my files from that drive to my new laptop.

                        Can you try that?

I don't mean to discourage you however the laptop before that got dropped off of the couch and the hard drive itself took a dump. Something inside the hard drive broke and the hard drive stopped working and that time I lost everything.

Hopefully you can salvage your documents and files. I would try to take it to someone or at least ask everyone you know if they know a "computer guy" that can take a look. lovethis

This makes me realize just how much I rely on my laptop. Without it, I'd be lost!

Oh no. I'm so sorry that happened. I wish we all didn't have to be so dependent on our computers these days.
