Nap Nanny

I am so seriously ticked off
I just returned from a yard sale and saw a nap nanny at this ladies sale
I told her that they have been recalled and are very dangerous
She just shrugged her shoulders
Then I told her I am a licensed daycare provider ( as if that would make a difference ) and told her babies have died in them and then she just stared at me blankly
Then I told her it was illegal to sell them ( really wasn't sure at the time if it was true) just trying to get her to put it back in the house and she turned around and talked to someone else
She even had a LAFD ( fire department) jacket on
It was one of those jackets that relatives wear ... She was not a fire fighter

So, I came home and looked it up
Should I go back and buy it and throw it away.

This lady is so stupid
She was obviously not trying to make a lot of money
Most of her toys were selling really cheap
What would you do?

Heck, if you can afford to buy it and throw it out, do it! I would too.

What good do these laws do when no one will enforce them? I mean, the ones we have to abide by get enforced, but every CPSC recall says that it's illegal to sell or resell recalled products. But I know for certain here, that the police would laugh their heads off if asked to enforce this.

Not defending the lady but she probably had no idea. If I was having a garage sale and someone came up to me & told me this I might get a "deer in headlights" kind of feeling and not know what to say. Also, for all she knew you were some kind of fanatic (WE know you're not, but obviously she doesn't).

I have had two nap nannies for my grandchildren. They loved them. Then came the recall. We returned both of them for full credit at ToysRus. She should have returned it to ToysRus for $149, even if she didn't get it from there.

It saddens me that a company is forced into bankruptcy because parents are unable and unwilling to follow the directions and warnings on the product. Babies have died because of parental stupidity, not because the product was defective or inherently bad. The Bumbo chair is another example of parental stupidity causing the death of littles. I returned mine because my reputation as a licensed daycare provider is more important than keeping a product that our family really loved. I put the blame where it belongs - on stupid parents, not on the product.

I was very nice and casual about it
and I didn't just blast her with comment after comment.
I told her where to look up the recall info on the internet
she just didn't care
I went back to the yard sale and it was gone
