I actually have a blurb in my handbook about that.
I say something like the kids eat healthy and at regular intervals but for those kids being picked up at the end of the day, they WILL be hungry as the time frame is about perfect for dinner time at home. I also mention something about playing hard and burning up all those calories/fuel so Yes! Your child WILL be hungry at pick up.- Flag

Yep, agree completely. I don't mention it in my handbook but if a parent ever asks I simply say "we had snack at our scheduled time. DCG/DCB is hungry for dinner is all." They never push. If we played hard outside I often give a second small snack (such as snack leftovers from another day) as they are burning more energy- Flag

IF you care to (not that you should have to), you could put the uneaten part of her p.m. snack in a baggie. Then when mom picks up and says something just say "Oh yeah wait, I have her fruit she didn't eat at snack time right here. Would you like to take it?" If it is something that doesn't save well just give her a banana or box of raisins. :: I wonder if that would shut her up.

It's not going to matter - this DCG is not eating the food she is serving for meals or snacks. So even if she does serve dinner, DCG is going to be starving cause she won't eat it... the issue here is the DCM's behavior. You can't control her parenting and her parenting is always going to affect her DCG's actions at daycare. So, this is likely to be a long term problem.- Flag

mcds mom strikes again
My DCM is now packing lunch and snack for her child because last fri. the child ate nothing from arrival till after pickup and I guess melted down before mom could get dinner done(because she doen't care for what I'm serving).I have been on the food program in the past and still follow theior guidelines. This child and her cousin rule the food wars at home....extrememly picky. So how do ya'll handle the kids that are not getting what is now being sent in by a few? These folks do seem to eat ouit a lot and coddle the food requests...so it may not be McD's but is Cracker Barrel any better?- Flag

The child's job is to eat (or not).
I will NOT force a child to eat
I will NOT serve alternate meals/snacks
Parents know AND understand as well as agree to my meal/snack policies before enrollment.
I don't play food games
Ever.
So for me the answer to your question is simple. I serve and the kids eat or go hungry. THEIR choice.
Oh and I do NOTallow food from home. Meals/snacks are included in my program.- Flag

We had a little girl, 3 years old, that wouldn't eat the entire time she was with us. 6 hours. She was a healthy (chubby) little things, so I asked mom what she ate at home. Potato chips, cookies, and nuts. Also, she was fed by her mother. With a spoon.
She eats just fine now, of course.- Flag

They eat what I serve or they don't eat it.
I will NOT allow food from home.
If you allow mom to send what this child WANTS then you are basically allowing mom to take over your program.- Flag
