Last week I had trouble with a mom of a new dcg who kept bringing Mcdonalds and donuts in the morning at drop off. I finally curbed that, but today dcm complains that on Friday her dd was starving when she picked her up. Well, sure, she won't eat what I fix because you buy her yummy crappy food. Who wants quinoa and pears when Mom buys you any fast food you want?

"You know DCM, Sally is served the same food options as everyone else. How much, if any she eats is up to her."
Then I would just stand there and smile BIG
If DCM continues to try "but she is hungry" tactic, let her know that of course McDonald's is more appealing but SHE knew signing up that you don't serve that and other than forcing the child to eat (which I know you can't do) Mom will need to talk to DCM NOT you about this issue.- Flag

Don't stress about it. She is old enough to understand that she will stay hungry as long as she doesn't eat. Remind mom to offer healthy food at home as well. Probably won't do it, but it's worth a shot.- Flag

I'm hoping when the SA kids come she will do better. My SA ones are good eaters and she looks up to older kids. Right now she is the oldest and running the show.- Flag

I say something like the kids eat healthy and at regular intervals but for those kids being picked up at the end of the day, they WILL be hungry as the time frame is about perfect for dinner time at home. I also mention something about playing hard and burning up all those calories/fuel so Yes! Your child WILL be hungry at pick up.- Flag

I actually have a blurb in my handbook about that.

IF you care to (not that you should have to), you could put the uneaten part of her p.m. snack in a baggie. Then when mom picks up and says something just say "Oh yeah wait, I have her fruit she didn't eat at snack time right here. Would you like to take it?" If it is something that doesn't save well just give her a banana or box of raisins. :: I wonder if that would shut her up.

I have it right in my paperwork that chef Boyardee isn't served here. If I serve spaghetti, I boil the noodles and make the meatballs myself. And I truly to agree, if kids are raised on junk, the taste of real food isn't gonna be appealing.Chief cook, bottle washer & spider killer...- Flag
