I think it is interesting how they completely closed the publics schools. However I cannot comment much on how good charter schools are as it seems it can be amazing or even worse than public schools from what I heard. I hope everything works out in the students favor though!

My teens attend a charter school. It's been a huge improvement for us!

We have a lot of charter schools available where we are in California. The problem with so many 'choices' is what happens to the children who don't have the choices available. Reasons can include parents are not invested in finding the best options, transportation not available to a farther school, or students not meeting the requirements to enter the charter school.

I have a lot of opinions and thoughts about this, but I don't know what the 'right' answer is or a way to solve all of the problems.

I feel sorry for the good teachers in this school district (I'm sure there are more then a few) who have been teaching there many years, are invested in the students and the community, who will be unable to get a job at the charter schools because instead they are hiring 'Teach for America' teachers who are getting paid a lot less as they have no experience yet, and also have mostly 'emergency level' of teacher required education.
