    Please Forgive Me...

As I've been reading through the threads the last few days, I've wondered how many things are actually misunderstood b/c we can't read body signals, facial expressions...and so on. I decided to read through some of my old posts, and wondered about some of them too...and I wondered, the people on this board know me only from my posts, you all don't know my heart-how could you?
So...if I've offended, been judgemental, been rude or obnoxious...(or anything else) please forgive me. Forums are a different way to "know" each other, especially for someone not so young (like me!) and I think often times we can misread, misunderstand or jump to conclusions based on our own backgrounds--and in a forum like this we are from all over geographically, philosophically, politically...and when we're used to everyone we come in contact with being "like us", the differences can seem intimidating. I hope to use this forum not only to grow professionally and learn as much as I can to help my daycare thrive (while I stay sane!), but also to learn about the lives of others that might be different than mine...what a gift we have in this computer age!
Thank you EVERYONE for your input...I appreciate each one of you and what you have to offer!

I would agree with this statement. From what I have seen, people put their own spin to written words, which often distorts what was said, or they "twist" words, or re-phrase words or sentences that mean something totaly different that what the person originally said. Many times too I think they are not reading the post completely. You could read a post several times and get a different meaning from each time, depending on how a person is currently feeling. People really need to "listen" to what is really being said and don't draw a conculsion by only reading in between the lines.

I always notice that it is a lot harder for some people to let things go when they just type and hit 'send'. Last word, yadda yadda... Makes for a very entertaining thread sometimes.

I for one forgive you momofsix. I agree with the previous posters. I think the craziness of the holidays are also upon us and we tend to lash out when we are stressed.

Oh, and I didn't mean anything by my response, just agreeing with you... It is crazy in here these last few weeks. I try not to take any of it too seriously.

The internet (virtual world) has to be dealt with in many new ways. There is the personal disconnect that can be misinterpreted. I've experienced this since using Prodigy email in the mid 1980's. Cognitive skills are required which, in this new age, will be a benefit. There is also good reason to use smiley faces. They put an extra mood to a comment and that can be helpful.

Talk about a blast from the past - I bet there are quite a few regulars here who don't know what this is .

I do try to give the benefit of the doubt when reading some of the posts that come across (to me at least) in a bad way. I feel like most people are basically good at heart and have good intentions, even if it doesn't always sound that way in print.

Prodigy was way ahead of its time. They messed up when they started charging 25 cents for "each" email! So who came along to take advantage? AOL, then came the WWW. Fair to say if email was a charge for each message sent we would not have spam nor an internet.

Its an Intranet like AOL. It looked a lot like the internet but it was in the 80s. Their ad banners kept the price down. Back then there was not broadband which now run at speeds of 1,500,000 baud. Back then we waited at a slow 1200 baud rate.
