    Anyone Else?

I am currently on maternity leave. I've planned for a month off and will have 8 kids when I return . This is our last baby (I didn't do daycare when my others were infants) and I nurse so he's still up during the night every 2-3 hrs sometimes staying up for hrs at a time. Anyways, I have about a week and a half left and the thought of returning makes me tear up. I love my job and have good kids for the most part but I'm so exhausted now I can even imagine what it's going to be like working 11-12 hr days . A helper is not an option nor is shorter hours. Has anyone else ever done this alone and how'd it go ?

    Congratulations on your new baby!

I did do it alone, except I did not nurse. It was exhausting, but we survived. We bought a lot of food from the Schwan's truck that year. I actually ended up cutting back on daycare children when we had our second baby. Our older one who was 2 going on three when I was pregnant had almost a nervous breakdown because of a colicky baby and another boy picking on him. It was easy to decide which families got the axe!

I have not done this, but I did run my friend's fcc while on my maternity leave before I opened mine. She was trying to save her pregnancy. Also did it after I had surgery.

Things I did: Stop worrying about cleaning. Assign specific small jobs to kids or husband.
Have groceries delivered if you have that option. Order more prepared foods than you usually do. Use paper plates and/or cups.
Order food in for your family at least once a week. Or have husband bring something home. Most groceries have rotisserie chicken, and deli items.
Don't feel like you have to do a million activities with the dcks. Don't tell the dcps, they probably won't notice. Kids like free play
If you can, lie down when the dcks do. Rest is good.
Lower your standards. It's temporary
