How to transport my multi age group to the park...

I currently have a pretty good way of getting my kids to the park (which is about a 10 min walk). I just bought a single stroller for my 6 month old dcg and I use a walking rope for my other dcks ranging in age from 22 months to 4 years old. I just hook the adult end of the rope on the stroller handle and it works great!

Well, now I might be starting a 1 year old (of course after I just bought a single stroller) who probably can't walk that far. I really don't want to buy another stroller! I do have a wagon but don't know if the 6 month old is old enough for that. Do you have any suggestions?

Btw, we have to go to the park everyday for outside playtime because I live in a town home that has no yard, so licensing granted the park as our designated outside play space.

Also, I have tried putting the 6 month old in a bjorn carrier that I have but OMG that girl is heavy!!

    .

I would probably just **** it up and buy a double. Check kijiji or your local facebook classified page to see if you can get something used.

Or, start out having the 1yo walk and when you can tell she's getting tired, put the 6mo in your carrier and have the older one use the stroller for the last half. In the end, it shouldn't be too long until the 1yo can walk the whole way.

I would buy a double stroller second hand. Or you can get an Ergo or other back carrier and carry the 6 month old that way. Baby Bjorn is not a great quality carrier so no wonder it was painful. I regularly use my Ergo and there are several other nicer brands. A second hand one would run you anywhere between $60 to $90, about the same as a simple double stroller.

I would definitely try on an Ergo/Beco (any soft-structured carrier could work) before nixing the carrier idea. Bjorns aren't known for being the most comfortable carrier for mom OR baby!
I would probably entertain the idea of a double stroller though if you can't do the carrier. I carried my YDS all over the place and used the double stroller for the other kids and sometimes 1-2 walked. I now have a quad stroller but really need a double stroller too for days I only have 2 or 3. If you have to go there every day, you might as well make it easy for yourself!

Check out the graco double stroller. It usually sells for around 125.00 on overstock .com. Adouble is great for those times the 1 yr old is to tired.
