    2 yr old Won't Sleep

So, the 22 month old DCG I've had since summer has recently been fighting naps. She always laid down pretty well before this last month. She will do anything to keep herself up, and lays on the cot babbling to herself, playing with her legs, blanket, sticking her fingers in her mouth or ears or whatever to keep up. Her parents insist she nap while here, b/c 'it's a problem' if not. However, they rock her or cosleep at naptime at home. She's here 2-3 days a week. My own son is high need & naptime was an awful ritual. I stayed home & started my business b/c I knew no one would take him with his neediness & bizarre sleep habits. I am tired of sitting on the floor rubbing her back & hair while holding a 4 month old. I'm pregnant & won't be able to do that long anyways. It's taking half an hour or more to get her out once I start rubbing her. Is that excessive? Seems so to me. I'm going to try a later naptime next week since today's her last day this week. Any other suggestions & what should I say to her folks? Great family, but this half hour+ nap ritual is driving me nuts. I can not afford to term. I only have 2 families. I'm worried they'll pull since they already asked for suggestions for naptime. They generally are open to suggestion though.

I just went through this with my dcg who is almost 2.5. Her parents told me that she wasn't napping any longer at home and that they thought she was ready to give up naps. She regularly was napping for 2-3 hours here

About 2 weeks after mom says that, guess who started fighting nap. At first, I did the same thing as you, stayed with her trying to get her to sleep, etc but then just left her to her own devices. She was still 'resting' and I had moved her to sleep separately so she wasn't disturbing anyone.

Now a month later, everything is back to normal. She falls asleep within minutes of laying down and is sleeping for 2 hours at least. I chalked it up to holiday craziness but maybe it was just a blip in her napping schedule?

No real advice, I guess. I can just commiserate with you.
