    Mom Says Earache

I sent home a six month old at 3 yesterday with a fever mom took immediately to urgent care. I had told her when she left she needed to be out for 24hours. When she came back to get sister off te bus she told me it was only an earache. So now I'm thinking she is going to try and show up with her today. Would you take her or exclude?

exclude, there is no way to know what's causing the fever and if your policy is 24 hours fever free, it's 24 hours fever free.

He may have had an ear ache but he also had a fever. I don't exclude for ear ache but I do fever. I don't care what they had alongside of the fever. A fever is a fever.

Ok thanks! I don't want to be nit picky but I told her when she picked up that with flu season and a local woman just passing from H1N1 I wasn't going to take extra chances with germs in my home.

I just messaged her and she is staying home today. I'll be done at 12:15 today!

24 hours fever free without meds. No exceptions.

Ear infections hurt. Infant is in pain and needs his Mother.

Added: Sorry if that sounds harsh. I currently have an ear infection and it is MISERABLE. That is all. Carry on.... ::

I agree. I didn't have wry demanding jobs when my kids were in daycare but I always made sure I was home with them when sick. So glad that I did and I wish more parents could/would.

I try to stress that I exclude for symptoms not diagnoses. The parents on the lower end of the compliance and/or intelligence spectrum have a harder time with this ("But he's teething! The doctor said so!" "Yes, I understand that, but he has a 103 degree fever and is throwing up every ten minutes, those are symptoms I exclude for. I exclude based on the SYMPTOMS, not the diagnosis.") (That's a pretend situation, btw, I made it up. It's an example)
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

Unfortunately, it's not all that far-fetched!
