    Nap Question?

I started a dcb 13 months today is his forth day here. He has schedule at home so therefore nap will be whenever he is tired. Mom said most of his nap are for car ride. Which could be ten to fifteen mins max,

mom is still breastfeeding. But I now got him to eat well.

He is here at 7 am so nap is 11:30 and he will cry for two hours until nap time is over without sleeping.

Any advice what to do? I tried rocking, SITTING NEXTto the playpen, being in the same room nothing works as yet.

If he is there at 7, maybe he is overtired by 1130.
I have a 13 mo dcb who takes a morning nap from 930-1030 and then goes down for nap at the same time with everyone else at 1 pm.

Do you have other children? If so and the group nap is 11:30, maybe try laying him down from 8:30-9:30 am - or even just for a half hour or so, then again with everyone else.

If there is no schedule at home, he is going to cry as he is not used to it. He needs to be trained. He is definitely old enough to CIO, so let him cry. Obviously, make sure all needs are met, and he is safe, but once he realizes it's nap time and no one is coming to get him - he will sleep.

    Good Luck!

after a year actually even before a year but I use a year as a basis for a cut off. I try to get them on my schedule. Your doing group care so the parent should not be telling you how to run your program but you should be telling the parent this is how we do things here. She loves the kid napping in the car........doesn't have to communicate with the child. Sad. The motion of the car puts kids to sleep but its best if kids can self sooth to sleep.

He may just need to realize that that's the new schedule and it could take a week or two to figure it out. I know it's not ideal but will be snuggle to sleep? My DS will not and has not EVER slept in a crib, so if someone put him in a crib he would scream for 2hrs too. Maybe try a cot/mat instead?
