Why is Lakeshore SOOO expensive?

and really the play value is not there. get some wipe containers and write a number on the side let them fill with that many objects.

Truthfully those are parent pleasers more to look at then learn from . They do have some great things worth the money but we have to stop dreaming like kids at the new things with bright colors and really think about how it will be used and if they will really do what it is for.

I don't agree. The quality is there and they stand behind their products.

I like pleasing the parents. I also like pleasing myself. I like bright colors. I like dreaming, we are supposed to encourage that in our kids. I hope they do more then what it is intended for. Favorite part of the Wizard of Oz is when the color comes to life and everything is pretty, whimsical, bright I want to be remembered as the fun,bright, light not the faceless wooden/mop doll like Les Miserables
I like natural toys but I also like the bright colorful stuff too.

I don't think dreaming and imagination come from all natural stuff. I think its sparked from everything we introduce them too. I played with my Wonder Women doll and had all kinds of adventures with her as a kid. I also loved the plain natural blocks that I built with.

I really go for quality of an item when possible.

SOMETIMES the quality is there. My kids LOVE trains, so I bought three sets of their tracks/trains and accessories. At that time I also bought their wooden community helpers vehicles and 2 sets each of wooden cars and trucks.

EVERY SINGLE TRAIN is broken. The wheels have busted (axle completely off) the railroad crossing was so cheap (thinner than a popsicle stick) and didn't last a DAY. When I called to ask them for a replacement, they said no. It was not worth it at all....

I have since gone back to my Geotrax from TRU, cheaper, and they have held up the last 7 years wonderfully.

I had to laugh about "parent pleasers" and it reminded me of something. We went on a tour of one of the "premiere" preschools in our area and they had these little tubs. I remember commenting to my friend that they obviously never used them because they and the shelf they were on were covered in dust!

I wouldn't mind having them actually, but not for $149!!
