    DS Has The Croup... :(

I had mentioned in a few posts that my little guy was sick. Today his fever shot up to 103 and he started this awful cough. He was having a tough time breathing and he lost his voice.

I took him to the clinic tonight and he has the croup

Not sure how I should proceed with the daycare. I am off for 2 weeks for Christmas but I am supposed to be open tomorrow and Friday. (We also have our Christmas party and play for the parents on Friday and the kids are so looking forward to it).

I just read online that croup is highly contagious....I don't want my DCKS to get sick before Christmas. WWYD?

My son's Ped. told me that I needed to close for at least 2 days (they were Thursday and Friday-I don't work weekends) to keep the other kids from catching it. I would just close, were I you.

My kids got croup often when they were young. Generally, I called the dc parents to make them aware that my child was sick and then let them make the decision to bring their child or stay home. Most opted to bring their child because they didn't want to miss work.

I hope your little guy feels better soon.

This. I just let parents know. They have the option to stay home (unpaid) or come and I will do my best to keep them apart. Most elect to come anyway.

I don't exclude for croup, only symptoms.mwhatnis croup for your son may end up being a minor cold for another.

Croup and the common cold is actually caused by the Same virus.

I would notify family and let them decide. And then try to keep him as isolated as you can.

my dd would get croup in the middle of summer, it was so weird. No one ever got sick either. Just like pink eye, ds got it the day before we left for florida and not one of us got it and we had to drive for 2 days with him.
