What is the procedure for relinquishing your license in your state?
My license is in good standing but I have decided (for a couple of reasons) that I do not want to be licensed anymore. Since I couldn't find a formal procedure for this process on our state website, I am just going send a letter to my inspector indicating my intentions.
Is it likely that my request will trigger a surprise inspection even though I am not due for one?
Also, I am wondering if my letter states "effective immediately" will that be the true effective date or will I technically still be licensed until they send me a confirmation in writing?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
