    The Sleeping Child

I`m at a loss. I have an 18month old who for the last 2 weeks wants to nap every morning for hours if I let her. I can`t figure it out. last week she was sick but only for 2 days but today again she will lay on the rug and sleep. I can`t entertain her all day till nap time. Oh she is impossible to wake up too. She is also the child that doesn`t talk (I posted about her before)

More than likely being sick took a lot out of her and her schedule is now messed up,

Did the parents let her sleep all day while she was home sick? Nothing messes with a kids normal daily routine at that age, than a couple of sick days.

Have you asked her parents what nighttime sleep habits/patterns are?

I would just try to do your best to help her get back onto the regular schedule you had her on. It may take a couple days.

I read somewhere that child care providers spend on average 3x as much time undoing what parents do to their child's eating, sleeping or behavior patterns.

she started this before she got sick (nothing major last week, just the flu) now her older brother who has a disability is the same way. He would sleep all day too, now she's doing it too.

Is there a particular concern with letting her take two naps a day??

I've had children before, even up to age 2 that still needed two naps.

I have a 22 Month old DCB who sleeps from 12h30pm-4h30pm most days and DCM says he still goes to bed just fine at 8pm! It's great LOL!

I think some kids just need a lot of sleep, especially when they are going through a little growth spurt or healing from illness.

Are they having trouble with her sleeping at night? If she won't sleep for them her inner clock might be out of whack.
            I see little people.

yes she slept from 12pm to 4pm and still goes to bed without a problem. I'm glad someone else has the same kid.

I think you very well might have figured it out. If she is sleeping just like her brother who has a disability that includes him sleeping like she is now, it is very possible that she is beginning to show signs of having the same disability.

I would make sure to tell the parents about her wanting to sleep so often, when she sleeps, days, times, how long she sleeps as well as keep a written log for yourself in her daycare file.

Just out of curiosity, what is the disability that includes sleeping a lot?
