What are you guys doing with your DCKs to celebrate, if anything? I was to disallow costumes but still want to make it special (an on a budget). Ideas? We have been doing a Halloween theme this week but want to vamp it up for thursday.

We are having Halloween treats and I will open a pumpkin and let them scoop the insides out. They are decorating a paper bag and then everyone gets to put some treats in their bag to take home.- Flag

We are having a party ALL day!
Pizza, games, arts & crafts, LOTS of junk food and a piñata`!!
The kids lovethis it!!
Everyone comes in costume and we walk over to the nursing home a couple blocks away and are doing a costume parade and handing out cards and treats for the residents that live there.
It is basically going to be a free-for-all as the kids can eat what they want, when they want and as much as they want.
I am then off for the next 3 days.- Flag

We are also doing an all day costume party!
We have games, decorating cookies, a craft and we watch a Halloween movie (probably Hotel Transylvania this year)
Oh, we do our party on Wednesday so they won't be too tired for trick or treating. On Thursday, we will do another Halloween craft and pass out goody bags.- Flag

We did a Fall Festival last Friday. I have done one every year since I opened 6 years ago. Parents are required to come! I always have it on a Friday at 3:30 and then they stay for a hour or so and then take off with their kids. Check out my facebook page if u want to see pictures.
But for this Thursday I am just going to buy a special cookie or something and maybe make a Halloween craft.- Flag

Not sure what we're doing here. I have 1 infant, 1 young toddler and 1 preschooler-whom is currently running a 99.7* fever so I'm watching him like a hawk. The toddler painted a paper plate pumpkin today that will turn into a tamborine tomorrow, but older one refused. Usually we parade around the block in our costume, play a few games, and make their own mummy pizzas, but usually I have at least 3 preschoolers. One year for snack we had mixed fruit inside an orange that I had carved to look like a pumpkin-glad I only had 3 eaters that time, it wasn't as easy as you would think

I don't do costumes either. I am always nervous about stains and tears before pictures are taken and they get to wear them out.
We will have a party all day. Halloween music, painting our mini pumpkins from the front porch, scooping out the inside of a pumpkin and playing with it, and making a Halloween cake (the kids get to decorate it with candy bugs/ eyeballs). And watching "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown".- Flag

We are doing...nothing, or nothing much. I have a young group and it's like I'm torturing them to do anything artsy. We have been ready Halloween books. I will do a Halloween themed lunch (Chicken/Cheese Quesadilla cut in a pumpkin shape with a cookie cutter, applesauce with Halloween sprinkles, ...)- Flag

The kids come in their costumes (we take them off for lunch and nap) and in the morning we trick-or-treat at each room in our center- one age group at a time. If it is nice out we go for a walk around the neighborhood.
And we eat treats all day long, but mainly at snack.- Flag

I am making "Mummy Hot Dogs" for lunch - all beef hot dogs wrapped up in thinly sliced crescent roll dough. (We don't do hot dogs very often, so it is a treat for them!)
And, Jack-o-lantern tortillas for snack. (Small tortillas with shredded cheddar cheese. Faces made from turkey pepperoni cut into triangles and crescent shapes. Bake for about 5 minutes to melt the cheese.)
I don't have the kids come in costume, but my dress up box will be prominent in the dramatic play.
Probably treat the kids by allowing a Halloween themed cartoon. Dora or Backyardigans or some such. (TV is also very limited here.)- Flag
