    Embarrassed Dad, Poor Guy/Kid

Yesterday I had a dad show up to pick up and he sheepishly said "ummm, I don't even know which shoes are hers...Can you help me?"

Oh, my heart ached. He was obviously embarrassed. He hasnt spent much time recently with the kids, either by choice, lifestyle or because of recent separation of he and wife. Which is obviously a whole different issue which I care not to get into. But, on this day he showed up to get his kid. Step one. And I could tell he was struggling. He almost fell apart in my entry when I said "Let me know if there is anything you need" (This is my standard line, all my parents know they are part of my daycare family.)

I gave dck an extra snuggle before she left, since its pretty obvious life is a little chaotic for her. So glad I can be her consistency and warmth.

I have a nasty divorce going on between dcp's right now. It's awful to watch my dcb have his whole little world turned upside down.

Poor Dad, at least he is making an effort. My dcb's dad is MIA.

That's so sad. Yes, daycare is where their consistency remains when trouble happens in the family.

How many kids do you have? I only keep a maximum of six and on many occasions I have had dad comes and wonder which shoes were their child's... not all men pay attention to that kind of thing... especially if the girl has a lot of different pairs of shoes!
