At What Age Do You Require DCKS To Wipe Their Own Bums?

I have 4 DCKS who are 4 Years Old and still require help in the washroom. (Two of them will be 5 in a few months).

Just wondering at what age you require them to clean themselves after a BM or if you just keep on wiping them until they start Kinder.

    Thanks!

Uh...nope. Dcb started wiping himself as soon as he started potty training. He turned 3 last June and has been fully trained since shortly after his birthday. I still check when he's done and have him wipe more if necessary but otherwise he does it all himself.

Honestly, once a kid is toilet trained I don't wipe for them. I think being able to wipe themselves is part of toilet training. I haven't wiped a kid's tushie in years.

I guess it would really depend on each individual child but in all honesty, I would not wipe a child who is old enough to go to school.

        Their k teacher won't!

As soon as they potty train, we start working on it. I REQUIRE all kids to give it a try, and I will assist/help after that. Only one of my potty trained kids needs help, and he will just NOT wipe (gross) although he is perfectly capable of doing so.

If it isn't happening within a few weeks, I get the parents on board. The whole reason I want them trained is so that I DON'T have to wipe their butts. Privacy is a huge factor at that age. I don't want to see a potty trained kids parts at ALL.

I do not wipe any of the children's bottoms that are potty trained.

I do not wipe kids once potty training is mastered - usually around 3 1/2 but most definitely by 4 - a friend of mine teaches K and she said she gets one or two kids every year crying in the bathroom because they pooped and can't/don't know how to wipe

I do tell them if they need that I will check their work, but that also stops the closer they get to K - because Teacher isn't going to come in to check their bottoms to see if they are clean.

what everyone else said no way with a 4 yr old I would stand there and make them do it . If the parents won't teach them I will. a 2 12 to 3 yr old can do it if taught. it is part of toilet training.
              It:: will wait

                Me neither.

Years ago my nephew used to come over sometimes after school. One day he yelled at me from the bathroom that he was done pooping and I needed to come and wipe him.
                Um, really?
                Yep.
Well who does it for you at school?

I had one once who was done pooping and yelled for me to come help....when I said "you don't need me, you can do it."

First she tried to tell me her arms wouldn't reach... ::

Then she said,"No, you do it, I don't want to get poop on my hands."

                    Um, your poop=your job.

I'll check and help with the hand washing, but that's it.

I had one mom who was worried who would wipe when her5 yr old DCB started K. I told her I never wiped his bottom here & she was shocked & looked at the child. Who just smiled.

I don't even check, not if they are completely potty trained. I have one who is 5 yo in a month whose mom wipes him each time. He doesn't even have to try AT ALL. About 6 months ago I had had enough of trying to "teach" him (he didn't want to learn, didn't want to chance touching his poop) and just started saying "No, it's your poop, you wipe it". It took him at least a 1/2 hour in the bathroom the first day but less and less since then. He only goes here about once every 2 weeks so it is slow going, but by K he WILL be able to wipe his own bottom, in spite of dcm!

This is hilarious. This should be the scare-tactic story for getting DCF's to teach their kids to wipe themselves.
I don't do it either, I will help teach once or twice if they haven't learned while PT, then they are on their own.
