    2 Year old Nitemare

OMG so I honestly am at a loss with this DCB... We had a short trip to the park today and he almost fell asleep on the way back... we ate lunch... now it's actual nap time and he is not crying... he is SCREAMING at the top of his lungs and refusing to sleep.... I have had kids cry for short periods of time but this is a new level of nap nonsense! I honestly do not know what to do! The screaming is so rediculously loud it will and has awaken everyone else....

Some may say skip nap.... this child has skipped nap before due to pooping during nap time and not going back to sleep and is a tornado of emotions and whining and meanness the whole rest of the day....

Have you ever encountered this? What do you do?!

I spoke with mom who says well he does that sometimes... has been fighting sleep since got over last cold... and says sit with him till sleeps... ya not possible here.... anyhow I ramble

If the screaming is out of character for this child. I'd send him home. He must be sick or in pain from something.

Child will occasionally cry prior to falling asleep but this is ridiculous. Mom attributes it to possible separation anxiety but he is going to wake everyone else... AGAIN.... It is completely intentional and followed with attitude thrashing and kicking. I am nearing the end of my rope per say and it's not even close to stopping.

If a 2 year old is out of control like that, I would try to pick him up and rock him for 10-15 minutes and laying him down again (NOT rocking to sleep). If the screaming continues, then I'd call Mom to pick up and tell her that he is disrupting the group's sleep time and that she needs to work on teaching him to sleep again.

One thing that stood out to me in your post is you said he almost fell asleep after the park. I think that's what it was. Anyways, it sounds to me like he got his second wind and is now probably over tired and responding negatively due to it. Idk just a thought....
