    Child Care Assistance Program

    Hi,

I was wondering if any of you knew how long the Child Care Assistance Payments (CCAP) programs have been running in your state (how many years)? I'm trying to plan on opening a CCAP based center in Chicago and want to get a feel for long term stability of the program.

Also I know in some states they only pay by the hour rather than the day. How does that work and is it worth it?

CCAP is a federal program that has been around for many, many years (at times under a different name). Each state administers the program with federal dollars and some state dollars. Both the federal government and your state may decide in the future to cut back or expand the program. They pay by the day, either full day or half day depending on what's approved.

I have no idea how long this program has been around, but it's been awhile.

ETA: Every time the state has budget issues (nearly every year), payments to providers get delayed.

            Mississippi here.

They pay by the day here and up to a max of 22 days a month (at least for my parents).

I'm not sure how long they've been around but my checks come from the department of human services.

Also, they do three different tiers here and only centers get top dollar. I get only half of what a center does at a max rate of approximately $8.52 a day for infants.

We are allowed to charge the parents the difference though or else I wouldn't be able to afford to accept it.
