    Blah...

This past week was awful, and I can only pray this week goes better. Last week I came down with Influenza A (tested positive after being swabbed). I didn't feel great, could have probably handled watching the kids, but didn't want to expose them to any sickness so I had to take the 2 days off. I wrote 2 sick days into my contract, but who reads the contract So, now I have to have some conversations.

Also, my dog was acting different (not eating - and I have a yellow Lab, this does not happen!) I took him in and he was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy - basically heart disease that can not be reversed. They told me maybe 6 more months with him, although not guaranteed as his heart is really enlarged. He's 8 years old, but I'm not ready to say goodbye. My eyes hurt from crying so much. I'm so very sad, and getting over this illness and feel just overwhelmingly BLAH.

Looking for some cute kids crafts for Halloween on Pinterest to cheer myself up. So far I have a paper plate with black yarn and spiders to make a fun spiderweb =) I grabbed some cheesecloth to make some spooky ghosts, and some pumpkin and ghost cut-outs to decorate with stickers & stamps. I have a halloween mix of fun songs (jump in the line, thriller, dry bones). What are you guys up to?

 I hope that your week goes better.

I lost my 13 year old baby (cat) earlier this year and though it was a very painful experience, I know she's in a better place (she was suffering, not eating, etc).

 So very sorry to hear about your beloved dog. We lost our 8 year old Maine Coon to liver cancer and our 9 year old German Shepherd to a spine disease. I know your heart ache, it's so hard knowing it's coming and there is nothing you can do about it. Just give TONS of love and enjoy the time you are given.

For Halloween the only thing I have planned so far is decorating pumpkins with felt cutouts. Still looking for inspiration myself.

When my daughter was 2 (and I was 29), I lost my 20 year old cat. I can still remember the pain, 8 years later. She went through so many things with me. Teenage drama, my parents divorce when I was 16, college, nursing school, my first marriage and divorce, my second marriage and the birth of my miracle baby. It still hurts.

And ever since, I've found myself still telling stories about "big kitty" as we called her. As my long time friends say, she wasn't a cat, she was an icon, a legend.

I also still find myself saying "gosh I love xyz kitty, but they aren't big kitty"

The pain gets easier over time, but losing a pet really is like losing a human loved one.

Get well soon and enjoy the time you have left with your beloved furry friend. I still think its better to know they are going soon than to just wake up one day and they are gone.

Sorry to hear about "big kitty"... I've lost dogs with my parents, this is the first dog that was mine, well ours (my DH and I) We bought him from a breeder and couldn't wait for him to be of age to come home with us. He's been there for me through every pregnancy, my first home, and I will miss him terribly. There will be a lot of waterworks over here...

              Awe he's so sweet!!!!!!!

My big kitty had spinal cancer, non treatable. But she had it for 3 years before she actually showed any symptoms at all. We knew about six months before we had her put down that her time was growing short. It was great knowing because we made even more memories and had plenty of time to say goodbye.

About a month before, my husband made her a custom coffin, and a custom cross and painted them both. I out my thumb print in blue paint on the cross and her paw print (she thought I was nuts ). Then I painted a poem on it and we sealed it with clear poly.

It's still there, on our family land right down the road from here.

I think it helped knowing and being able to prepare as much as possible.

So sorry about your dog and I hope you are feeling better.
It is so hard to have a sick pet. Our new puppy contracted Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy at about 4 months and couldn't walk for over a month. It was so tough. Her growth is stunted now but she is walking. It cost almost 2000$ but they are a part of your family from the first day you bring them into your home.
You just love them so much and just want to do whatever you can to make them better.
My heart goes out to you. lovethis  lovethis

Ooh, I like this! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks everyone... Wrigley is a part of the family, and we're doing everything we can. He now takes 5 pills every morning and he's a stinker about taking his pills, so I'm roasting chicken now, as a treat for every pill. The remaining time he has, he's going to be spoiled rotten, not like he hasn't been his whole life. But more than normal =)
