I charge a monthly amount (although they can pay it in installments throughout the month). Amount due never changes. Kid stays with Grandma for the day - pay. Kid is sick and stays home - pay. Mom has day off work and keeps kid home - pay. I am sick - pay (only twice in 16 years have I done that). I take a Friday off - pay. I take a week off (only about once every 3 years) - pay.
Nobody has ever complained to me. They knew it from the interview. Maybe they complain to each other at home, but I've never been challenged by them about it. That being said, I feel guilty each and every time I take that check which includes pay for a day I took off. However, I gotta do what I gotta do.
