    Extra Large Baby Gate Options

    Good morning,

I am a fan of retract-a-gates unfortunately I am looking to place a barrier between the play area and my kitchen..... problem is my home is an open concept so the opening is approximately 10ft. I am more of less looking for a safer way to do meal prep without knocking a little one on their bum every time I turn around. Do any of you have an extra large space and a gate that fits? I prefer a retractable type one as my daycare is also my home but I am open to options.

    Thank you in advance!

I got mine here and love it. I have been using it for years and it is great.

I'm not sure how wide they are but I think they sell them for wide spaces. My space isn't as wide as yours but still wider than I could find them in stores.

        More threads about baby gates.

I know we've talked about extra large spans for baby gates before but I can't remember which thread it was so I just posted the whole lot of them....

In my old daycare house, I had a wide opening between the kitchen and dining area. I couldn't find a gate wide enough (or stable enough) to fit it. As it was wasted space and we didn't NEED that wide of an opening, I placed a chest of drawers there, facing the kitchen. I used the drawers for extra storage. I painted the backside of the chest to match my dining room walls, so it looked like a half wall. Then we could just use a regular size gate in the remaining opening.
